The online world is full of small and large networks and allows people to be globalized. People all over the world have the ability to communitcate through the world wide web. There are several websites that allow people to do this. One major website that allows people from different states, and even countries, to meet or keep in touch with each other is www.myspace.com. It is very popular for people of all ages including children ranging from 13 to adulthood. People are able to connect with other people who are differnet from them without being afraid what other people will think if they do. They are able to relate to eachother and able to make new friend while keeping the old ones. There are many differnet kinds of conversations that occur on this site. You find out each others interests, and you can converse with your loved ones without having to pick up the phone and call them.

Appiah believes that just trying to understand other people is enough to bring everyone together. In his eassay he says “Understanding eachother may be hard; it can certainly be interesting. But it doesn’t require that we come to an agreement” (25). We can still get along with other people without having the same views and opinions as them. As long as we get along we can all come together and be cosmopolitian like, then everything in the internet world will be okay.

People view community and diversity in many different ways. People use the terms community and diversity in a very broad range of ways. Most talk about their own community that they are in. I found many references to religion and how community and diversity are effected in certain religions. I would have never imagined the things people think about diversity. In one guy’s blog he talks about how us being so diverse in religion, makes the terrorists want to attack while we give freedom in religion (http://exhaust-laser-system5950.blogspot.com/2007/09/islamic-world-domination.html - 5th paragraph). When i searched on blogpulse i found alot of people that use the word community in their blogs seem to be talking about some sort or religious event or just about their religion in general. I think that this happens because a big part of religion is the community part and the togetherness. Being apart of something like this is very important to many people.

At AnyU the community and diversity part Nathan talks about is more friends, sports, and greek life. She talks about the school community and everything going on in just that one area instead of worldwide. Religion usually doesn’t come up much in a college atmosphere. On the other hand, it is kind of the same thing because being in a religious group and being in a community in school (sports/art) still gives the people in the community a common interest. To most people community is just a group you belong to and is something that you are a part of. The difference between the blog world and Nathans essay is that her’s is just strictly based on college community and diversity within the school.
